Between Dot. and Dot.

Between Dot. and Dot., Alternative Controller Games, 2024
Trapped in the binary logic of "this or that," one cannot easily make a choice, leading to growing confusion and contradiction. In this state, balance turns into an abstract idea, losing its true meaning
<Between Dot. and Dot.> is an Alternative Controller Game about finding balance in a binary world. Players take on the role of a wanderer crossing a vast desert with a child. The journey is controlled by two large buttons placed far apart—one black, one white—each linked to a different character. Pressing the white button moves the white character, while the black button moves the black one. To keep both moving, players must shift side to side in a steady rhythm. What seems like a simple action demands unexpected physical effort, making players actively engage with the struggle of maintaining balance in an extreme world.
These buttons are more than just controls; they represent opposing forces, challenging the player to bridge the gap between them. With each press, sand shifts inside the buttons, subtly mimicking the sensation of walking through an endless desert. The pressure-sensitive mechanism requires endurance, turning repetitive motion into a meditative act—one that reflects on the cycle of life and death.
